Bomb Found Inside First Bank as Customers Run for Their Liffe

Tragedy was averted on Tuesday as a security guard
attached to a branch of First Bank Plc in Osogbo,
Osun State discovered an explosive substance
wrapped in a polythene bag right inside the banking
hall.
Immediately the discovery was made, bank workers
and customers all took to their heels, with many of
them leaving their hard earned money behind. It was
indeed a dramatic situation as Nigerians struggle to
pass through the bank's security door, all at the
same time.
As soon the information about the bomb spread,
many shop owners in the area hurriedly closed their
shops, to avoid long story, while some even left their
shops wide open and ran for safety. No one wants to
die!
Officials of Police Anti-Bomb Squad were immediately
deployed in the bank...
They were able to detonate the bomb successfully
and cordoned off Station Road, where the bank is
located.
Osun State government said it suspected foul play in
the episode. A statement by the government said:
“We are compelled to call on the security agencies to
get to the root of this strange discovery in Osogbo
and tell the whole world how this device found its
way into a banking hall.
“Usually impregnable fortification of banks through
their various screening machines which detect
metals. To be specific, we suspect a deliberate foul
play in the antics of those who desire to create a
sense of insecurity in this state.”
The government assured residents of their safety and
urged everyone to go about their legitimate activities.

Here Are The Causes Of Infertility In Ladies

This is a very helpful piece written By (DR.) OLADAPO
ASHIRU:

A good number of the behavioural factors
affecting fertility can be well corrected in a
medical spa that is equipped with some of the
cutting-edge equipment to remove the
accumulated toxins and encourage new lifestyle
that will discourage such behaviours.
For instance Mayr clinics have been able to
assist a significant number of obese patients to
get pregnant ordinarily or following filed IVF
cycle by getting them to go through a Mayr
therapy and losing between 10kg and 15kg in
10 days; while the underweight patient have
been prepared to optimum weight.
Behavioural factors
It is well-known that certain personal habits and
lifestyle factors impact health and may limit a
couple’s ability to conceive. Fortunately, however,
many of these variables can be regulated to increase
not only the chances of conceiving but also one’s
overall health...

Diet and exercise:
Optimal reproductive functioning
requires both proper diet and appropriate levels of
exercise. Women who are significantly overweight or
underweight may have difficulty becoming pregnant.

Smoking: Cigarette smoking has been shown to lower
sperm counts in men, while it increases the risk of
miscarriage, premature birth, and low-birth-weight
babies for women.

Smoking by either partner reduces
the chance of conceiving with each cycle, either
naturally or by IVF, by one-third.

Alcohol:
Alcohol intake greatly increases the risk of
birth defects for women and, if in high enough levels
in the mother’s blood, may cause Foetal Alcohol
Syndrome. Alcohol also affects sperm counts in men;
it is reckoned that a bottle of beer a day or three
glasses of wine a day is dangerous for your
reproductive health. In other words, alcohol should be
avoided if you are thinking about conception.

Drugs:
Drugs, such as marijuana and anabolic
steroids, may impact sperm counts in men. Cocaine
use in pregnant women may cause severe
retardations and kidney problems in the baby and is
perhaps the worst possible drug to abuse while
pregnant.

Recreational drug like ecstasy use should
be avoided, both when trying to conceive and when
pregnant.

Environmental, occupational factors
Substances that can cause mutations, birth defects,
abortions, infertility or sterility are called reproductive
toxins. The ability to conceive may be affected by
exposure to these toxins or chemicals in the
workplace or the surrounding environment. Disorders
of infertility, reproduction, spontaneous abortion, and
teratogenesis (inborn abnormalities caused by drugs
and other substances) are among the top 10 work-
related diseases and injuries in the U.S. today. Four
chemicals are now being regulated based on their
documented infringements on conception.

a. Heavy metals:
Exposure to lead sources, mercury,
titanium, oil fossils, petrochemical fumes, plastic,
paint and other metals has been proved to negatively
impact fertility in humans. Lead can produce
teratospermias (abnormal sperm) and is thought to
be a substance that causes artificial abortion.

Mercury and titanium, as present in large fish and
dental fillings, can prevent the implantation of
embryos.

b. Medical treatments and materials: Repeated
exposure to radiation, ranging from repeated simple
X-rays to chemotherapy, has been shown to alter
sperm production, as well as contribute to a wide
array of ovarian problems.

c. Ethylene oxide:
A chemical used both in the
sterilisation of surgical instruments and in the
manufacturing of certain pesticides may cause birth
defects in early pregnancy and has the potential to
provoke early miscarriage.

d. Dibromochloropropane (DBCP): Handling the
chemicals found in pesticides, such as DBCP, can
cause ovarian problems, leading to a variety of health
conditions such as early menopause that may directly
impact fertility.

In general, the understanding of the fact that
environmental factors can create a lot of fertility
problems has made it mandatory for cases of
repeated IVF failures and early pregnancy loss
patients to use the detoxification process before
going through a fresh cycle in order to enhance the
chances of a successful pregnancy and normal live
birth.

SEE WHAT FUEL SCARCITY IS DOING TO NIGERIANS

I hear the fuel scarcity is biting so hard in some
areas, so much that Nigerians are beginning to beg
NNPC and the Presidency not to account for the
$20billion (over Three Trillion Naira) that is missing.
Some people are now saying Federal Government
should continue to steal any amount they want for
2015. Just give us petrol!

APC Unveils Manifesto For The Rapid Development of Nigeria

Fast-growing opposition party, All Progressives
Congress (APC), is set to unveil its manifesto,
designed as a "Roadmap To A New Nigeria", at the
party's National Summit to be held in Abuja on
Thursday, March 6th.
The manifesto was a product of an empirical and
painstaking process embarked upon by APC in a
deviation from the old practice of packaging a party's
manifesto on a whim.
''With conditions deteriorating throughout
Nigeria, with security an ever increasing
concern, with the lack of jobs pushing families
and young people further and further into
poverty and with new stories of corruption
within the PDP government appearing day after
day, the APC decided to commission the largest
ever public opinion survey in Nigerian history to
determine the current status of things in the
nation directly from those who knew best - the
actual people of Nigeria.
''The results were even more revealing than the
APC had anticipated : When asked, 'If the
election were held today, would you vote for
Goodluck Jonathan or the candidate of the All
Progressives Congress', the APC candidate held
a ten-point lead over the President. By a margin
of 44% to 34% (with 22% undecided), the APC
candidate was the clear national choice.
''When asked, 'In general, do you think things in
Nigeria are going in a good direction or bad
direction', by a staggering more than two-to-one
margin (50%-24%), Nigerians responded that the
country was going in a bad direction. When asked,
'What issue would you like the President and National
Assembly to focus on most', an overwhelming
majority (60%) said jobs was the dominant issue that
the government should address .
''And then when asked if they found the following
statement convincing or not, 'Goodluck Jonathan
has done nothing to create jobs, and far too many
people are still unemployed', decisively, 58% of
Nigerians found that argument about Jonathan
convincing. Finally when asked if Jonathan was
doing a good or bad job fighting corruption, 59%
Nigerians thought Jonathan was doing a bad job
fighting corruption."
Interim National Publicity Secretary of APC, Alhaji Lai
Mohammed, said in a statement issued on Sunday
that the Road-map will detail the party's priorities in
fixing the wide spread failings of successive PDP
governments since 1999, in order to bring hope and
succour to the long-suffering people of Nigeria.
''The voice of the people was clear: The nation is
going in the wrong direction. The nation wants
change and would not vote to re-elect Jonathan in
part because the number one issue to Nigerians is
jobs and the nation believes Jonathan has no
credibility on the issue of job creation,'' APC said.
According to the party, the unveiling of the party's
manifesto, designed with the survey results in mind
and the real needs of the Nigerian people made
evident by the people themselves, will be the clearest
indication yet that the Movement for Change has
indeed begun.

OMG! Uganda President's Daughter Confesses: I'm Homoséxual

In a startling revelation the daughter of President
of Ugandan, Yoweri Museveni, confessed during a
radio talk show in Mbarara, Western Uganda, that
she is homosexual, and that she is revealing this fact
as a protest to the anti-gay law that was recently
signed into law by her own father.

Diana Kamuntu, President Museveni’s daughter said
though she loves her father unconditionally, she does
not agree with his government’s anti-gay stance,
and that she will fight against it.

In the words of the President's daughter: “I am
gay, I am homosexual. I have known this since
I was a little girl. Also, I have been Christian all
of my life, so I will not tolerate any law of this
supposedly democratic nation, that will place
hate on any person just because of what his or
her sexual orientation happens to be.

“Now that I finally revealed my sexual
orientation, I put myself in front of this new law
and I will let our people decide what to do with
me,” she said with a lot of emotion.

It would be recalled that the Ugandan President
signed a law that imposes tough penalties for
homosexual acts, a move that has been condemned
from around the world and may jeopardize Uganda’s
relationship with the United States and other Western
nations.

According to CodeWit, the revelations by the President
Daughter created confusion in the studio and the live
show was cut short abruptly.

Will President Yoweri Museveni send his own
daughter to prison for being gay? The world is
watching!

Pastor Orders Female Members Not To Wear Pants To Church

Indeed wonders shall never end, especially as we're
approaching the much talk about end time:

As you read this, a controversial pastor has told
ladies attending his church not to wear underwear so
they can feel closer to God. The strange order was
issued to female members by Reverend Njohi. Female
congregants were forbidden from wearing bras and
pants to service at Reverend Njohi's church, a
ministry known as Lord’s Propeller Redemption
Church.

The pastor openly warned that there would be
grave consequences for any female member
who fails to adhere strictly to his new order.

Surprising, most of the women in his church
adhered to the order as ladies were are said to
have attended service with no underwear,
leaving their breast dangling...

Reverend Njohi, whose church is located in Nairobi,

Kenya, according to Kenyan Post, said ladies need to
feel free in their ‘mind and body’ while in church for
"easy access of the spirit".

Why is it that some pastors just like taking advantage
of their church members?

Nasty Things Nigerian Women Do Just to Get Married

1. Snatching a friend or relation’s man: All is fair in
love and war! Rumour has it that women have
resorted to locking their phones, hiding their men and
coding their gist from so-called friends cos it’s a
jungle out there…

2. Re-inventing themselves: Pretence is the order of
the day. No man wants to tame the shrew or teach
the inexperienced or make an honest woman out of a
dishonest one so once marriage is desired, women
package themselves in pseudo, ready-made, easy-to-
use, highly desirable packages. After marriage, what
you see is what you get! #stepfordwifemode

3. Trapping him with pregnancy: This used to be the
old school method of getting a man to propose. From
skipping the pill to seducing the man or getting him
drunk when she was ovulating, a woman usually
knew she had the man where she wanted him once
she missed her period even if there was no
commitment. Now the guys are saying YES to baby
mamas and YES to child support. Are the girls
deterred? NO! The girls have stepped up their game by
involving the parents and you know parents don’t like
scandals…

4. Praying&Fasting:This would presumably be an
honourable means of obtaining a husband but
sometimes the prayers are offered up to deities other
than God& other times it becomes a song permanently
on repeat…

5. Taking his photograph to Cele church for a
prophetess to pray over or a powerful Alfa. Heard it
works like a charm…

6. Taking his sperm, hair or personal effects to Baba.
Guys disposing of your condoms yourself is not such
a bad idea…

7. Outright Jazz! My friends recently gisted me ’bout
how a tied up, live pigeon had been discovered in a
friend’s sister-in-law’s box. The woman confessed to
using jazz and said she hadn’t been sure if the guy
would actually propose so she took the necessary
precaution…

8. Putting love potion in his food! This is classic and
timeless but shouldn’t it be called a ‘compelling’
potion? Because in this case, love na by force!

9. Saying YES to a man you despise! A woman has
two classes of men usually on her case. The ‘correct’
guys and the ‘disgos’. The disgos usually end up as
magas or rebounds but many a woman has shocked
a despondent toaster with a sudden ‘Yes’ and men
have agreed that truly there is nothing God cannot do!

10. Proposing to a guy! Yes it does happen… (Who
wears the engagement ring?)

11. Toasting a man’s family so they make the
decision for him! A friend complained that a girl he
detested had over the months gotten close to his
family. Lavishing on them, cooking for them and
basically being their ‘go-to’ girl and now his mum
had put her foot down that he had to break up with
his girlfriend and marry little-miss-went-home-to-
mama depending on how much power the family
wields, their word may be final…

12. Asking daddy to get you a husband! If daddy’s a
big shot, arranging a husband for you is usually as
easy as pie and some men would sell their souls for a
large chunk of daddy’s money so both parties are
happy…

13. Being your man’s maga! Some women believe that
when you finally get a man to be interested in you,
spoiling him and overlooking his every fault would get
you into a white gown faster than an okada chased
by LASTMA! Some men don’t mind a woman who
houses them, clothes them, feeds them, gives ‘em
pocket money, never gets upset with them even when
they misbehave and cleans up after them with little or
no contribution from them… Living the dream???

14. Giving him unlimited freedom as long as he
proposes: “Tell me I’m number one baby, tell me I’m
the future mother of your kids and not Amina, Bisi or
Ngozi!” Women used to wanna be the one AND ONLY
in their man’s life, now being the number one is good
enough…

15. Polishing up a low class, barely educated brother
in exchange for a ring! The deal is simple, you send
your cleaner, gateman or driver to night school, you
give him language lessons, you take him to buy some
new clothes and deodorant and teach him to call you
honey instead of madam and in exchange, he gets to
marry you, share an expensive bedroom and never
worry about his bills ever again!

16. Revamping yourself: Change your ward-robe, lose
20kg, buy a truckload of brazilian hair, study the
karma-sutra, do a vaginoplasty and change the age
on your birth-certificate to read 22. Botox, plastic
surgery, a compulsory gym membership and ‘body
magic’ also indicated!

17. Becoming a worker in church! Rumour has it that
men go to church to marry, the same rumour also
reveals that ‘Greeters’, ‘Ushers’ and ‘Lead Soloists’
have the best exposure…praise the Lord!

18. Moving to a new town or part of town so that you
are the ‘new girl’. This always peaks the men’s
interest and at the same time you get to run away
from your past and the ‘old maid’ labels! Combine
this with number 16 above and ooh la la!

Tired of waiting for your dream man? Tired of
changing boyfriends like underwear? Tired of begging
God to upgrade you? Tired of waiting for your
boyfriend to propose? Tired of all the heartbreaks and
betrayal? Tired of men chopping you for free? Tire no
more… Statistics show that only 3% of single women
of marriageable age in Nigeria are undisturbed by
their lack of a spouse! The other 97% would do just
about anything to become Mrs somebody.
And when I say anything, I mean it…

Here are 21
unorthodox things ‘classy’ Nigerian women have done
in their quest to bag a husband! Some are bizzare,
some are skanky and some are downright sad…but if
you’re willing to try anything and getting a husband
is the only activity left on your bucket list, you might
wanna try a few! (Men beware) #Not for the
fainthearted…

Omotola's Bombshell: I Don’t Believe In Gender Equality

Award-winning actress and one of the TIME 100
most influential persons, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde
and her husband share their love story in a frank
interview with Punch. Below is a brief excerpt:

What was the initial attraction?

Matthew: She was beautiful, fresh and untouched. I
decided to start with someone who hadn’t seen the
world yet.

When did you propose to her?

Matthew: We didn’t court. I met her when she was 16
and I was 26. We got married when she was 18. She
clocked 36 recently. We were family friends and I met
her through my elder sister. She used to come around
the house and when she turned 18, I decided she
was ripe. I told her I would marry her and she didn’t
believe. I went to tell her late mother, who said I
should wait till after four years because Tola had just
gained admission to the university then. I told the
mother that I couldn’t wait because I didn’t trust the
guys in the university.

How can a woman have a successful marriage?
Omotola: I don’t believe in gender equality. I do not
believe that God made man and woman to be equal
in any way. I believe that in every organised
institution, there is always a head and an assistant.
It doesn’t mean that one should take the other for
granted, or disrespect the other. I believe the husband
is the head of the home and the wife is an
assistant...
My husband is a pilot, I have flown with him several
times and I understood that there is a captain and a
co-pilot. They are both responsible for the
passengers’ lives. But when there is a final decision
to make, it is up to the captain to make it. He is more
experienced and the one with the responsibility. But
any mature captain will not ignore his co-pilot
because the co-pilot is not a cabin attendant. He is
there for a reason. It just depends on how you
understand and play your roles.

I believe women should understand this. When a
woman starts a struggle for power tussle with him, it
tends to cause friction in the home. The woman
should give the man the respect as the head of the
home and also prove herself as a worthy co-pilot. He
needs to see you as a reliable co-pilot . Sometimes, he
may not be the one running the house day-to-day,
you are the one to take decisions but you have to do
it in such a manner that he is comfortable enough to
see you as someone he can rely on. When you have a
proud and egocentric husband, hand him over to
God. If you feel like your life is being threatened, or
that of your children, get yourself out of that
situation. You owe your children that. Try separation
for a while, but before that, you must have tried other
things. I do not believe that people should throw in
the towel in their marriage at every flimsy excuse. You
must have been a diligent wife and tried prayers and
intervention. If all those fail, then you can remove
yourself from that situation. Also, couples should be
friends and communicate. What we call love
sometimes fizzles out. True love comes from
friendship. When you don’t feel those initial sparks,
friendship is what keeps you together, until when the
spark comes again.

How do you feel when she plays romantic roles in
movies?

Matthew: They are all make-believe. They are not real
and most of her movies are pecks and not kisses. I
told her not to cross that boundary.

What are the secrets of your successful marriage?

Matthew: It is God’s grace. We are disciplined and
prayerful.
Omotola: It has to be God. There is no other strategy.

One person can be perfect and the second person
can be nasty. On our part, I’d say also that we don’t
look at the relationship as something we can walk
away from. We look at it as a life commitment. When
you parents upset you, you cannot divorce them.

Even the bible says you will leave your father and
your mother and cleave to your spouse. Luckily, he
doesn’t drink or smoke or abuse me. I don’t have any
major thing to complain about, and I hope it is the
same thing for him.

Do you quarrel?

Matthew: Yes we do. A lot. She is very argumentative.

She always wants to be right. You can never win an
argument with her. But she is the first to apologise.

Omotola:
When there is a quarrel, I usually apologise
first. He doesn’t say sorry. Overtime, I have come to
realise that it is an ego problem. Even when he knows
he is wrong, he will rather do every other thing or buy
things for me than say, ‘I’m sorry.’ Fortunately, the
‘sorrys’ are not too many. He is very responsible and
more hardworking than me. By God’s grace, we have
been able to understand our routine.
Do you still have time to cook?
Omotola: I cook all the time. I love to cook. I don’t go
to the market but I do the cooking.

You go to the market for her?
Matthew: Yes and I don’t feel bad doing it. I am not
just doing it for her; I do it for the family. I enjoy it a
lot and I have been doing it since we got married.
What pet names do you call each other?
Matthew: I call her Omosexy.

Omotola: I call him Honey Boy

Do you see this love lasting forever?

Omotola: Yes, though I’m not playing God, I believe
our love shall be forever.

Popular Singer Chris Brown Diagnosed With Mental Illness

If you've watched the movie titled HOMELAND, then
you'll sure understand what Chris Brown is said to be
going through at the moment. The popular musician
has been diagnosed as bi-polar, he is suffering from
post traumatic stress disorder and self-medicating
inappropriately.
He has tried to hide the condition from the public but
his latest case in court took him into rehabilitation
and it was at the rehab centre that the issue finally
came out. While in court on Friday, where it was
revealed that he is improving, the singer was told to
stay consistent with his medication for the next two
months.
Below is the revelation from the rehab centre where
Chris Brown was treated:
"Mr. Brown will also require close supervision by
his treating physician in order to ensure his
bipolar mental health condition remains stable.
"It is not uncommon for patients with Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar II to use
substances to self-medicate their biomedical
mood swings and trauma triggers.
"Mr. Brown became aggressive and acted out
physically due to his untreated mental health
disorder, severe sleep deprivation, inappropriate
self-medicating and untreated PTSD."
The letter obtained by E! NEWS indicates that if he
sticks to his treatment, all will be well with him aga

Why I Love Rolling With Older Men ––Nollywood Actress Queen

Single mum and actress, Queen Blessing Ebiegieson,
had an interesting chat with Nation. Enjoy...
Doesn’t the breakup of your relationship with
the father of your son confirm the insinuation
that Nollywood stars hardly have stable homes?
That is a false view. We actresses are just like
every other person. As a woman, you would
always want your relationship to remain intact.
But when you are in a relationship and you are
experiencing 70% pains, I will tell the person to
quit. It’s not by force. But if it’s 30% pains and
70% happiness, it’s worth staying because you
can never get 100% satisfaction - no man is
perfect.
Why this unusual obsession for older men? I
think that is me. Younger men don’t turn me on.
If you are 25 or 30 years old and you are
toasting me, then, you are just wasting your
time. Maybe because I don’t really like séx and
I always think they are after séx. Or maybe they
don’t think the way I do. So, it’s bull shit for
anybody to think I date older men because of
money. That is the person’s business and I
don’t give a damn.
Considering the fact that you loved that man, why did
you back out of the relationship?
You can love somebody; but sometimes, love is not
just enough. If your life is threatened and you end up
dying, will you go to heaven and show love to that
person? You have to live in order to love.
Considering the age bracket between you and your ex,
it’s widely believed that you dated him because of his
money. How will you react to this? Love has nothing
to do with age, especially when it comes to true love.
But we really don’t have true love here in Nigeria. A
lot of women go for fancy things. Even the first man
in my life was 30 years old when I was 20. He was 10
years older. That was how I started my life. I have
never dated my mates or younger men.
You don’t expect me to get entangled with someone
who is still in school. What if I get pregnant, who will
take care of my child? Where will we live? I’m a
realist. That is why I fall in love with someone whom I
know can take care of my children. The wrong thing
for any woman to do is to get married to anybody
who can’t take care of her and her children - that is
when you will start thinking of cheating.

Photos: This Woman has Slept with 300 People & must have at least 5 Orgasms per Day!

A 'hypersexual' woman who claims to have slept with
300 people is so addicted to carnal pleasure that she
spends up to five hours a day having sex or pleasuring
herself.

Nessa Jay, 24, from Cromer, Norfolk, finds her
addiction to sex so hard to deal with that she is even
having therapy to try to curb it. Speaking to The
Sun's Jennifer Tippett, Nessa said:
'I get sweaty palms, I feel angry and I need to satisfy
myself if I don't get at least five orgasms a day
through sex.'

Nessa says sex addiction is hard to deal with. She first
discovered her thirst for sex after losing her virginity at
the age of 16 and within 8 years, has had sex with
300 people. She used to have sex with 'anyone I
could'. Nessa says she even used to meet sexual
partners in the supermarkets.
'First I chat to them a bit to make sure they're not
dangerous or odd but once I know they are OK we go
home together,' she said.

Nessa also says she's enjoyed sex with women and
has had threesomes. Her sexual appetite has in the
past wreaked havoc with her friendships and many of
her female friends cut ties with her because they were
afraid, worried that their boyfriends may be attracted to
her.

But trying to curb her nymphomaniac habit, Nessa now
channels much of her sexual energy in to her work as a
sex toy reviewer. She has tested 2,000 toys, and says
the nature of her job helps her to deal with her
cravings. However, while she has been polyamorous in
the past, she has one partner at the moment.

Nessa doesn't want her nymphomania to define her
and hopes people will view people with hypersexuality
as 'normal'. She said:
'I live an average life which most people my age would
live. I see friends, I write, I have hobbies; it's pretty
normal and pretty boring at times actually. My sex
drive may be higher than some but it's healthy because
I'm positive about it. I always make sure I have
incredibly safe sex and get tested regularly.'I'm
perfectly healthy. I can't change who I am or how I act
and I wouldn't want to,' she added.

Young People and The Time of Nigeria

As events to commemorate Nigeria’s centenary
(January 1, 1914 – January 1, 2014) continue, and
as I reflect on the condition of Nigerian youth today,
the perception of the precarious world that has been
shaped for us over the last 100 years became
stronger than ever.

Unarguably, the generations of young people who
have come on the scene, one after the other, in recent
decades, have found a country whose characteristics
and “climate” are changing. Today, the greatest
challenge is being young in a nation dominated by
fear and uncertainty.
Graphic, empirical or quantitative evidence strongly
support this assertion:
According to the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS)
“2012 Youth Baseline Survey Report”, the population
of Nigerians below the age of 35 years comprises
60% of the entire population of the country.

Assuming that the 2006 census and the 2012
estimate of 167 million for people resident in Nigeria
are correct, then the youth population in Nigeria
today may well be over 100 million.
Of this number an alarming 54% are unemployed, the
NBS report shows (I reckon that the
underdevelopment of agriculture through years of
neglect and poor policy administration, comatose
extractive/mining sector, de-industrialization and the
failure of manufacturing over time have contributed in
no small way to the poor employment figures).
Also, the United Nations Development Programme
(UNDP), in its 2013 Human Development Index (HDI)
Report, ranked Nigeria amongst countries with low
development index at 153 out of 186 countries that
were ranked. Adult illiteracy rate in Nigeria is 61.3%.
Life expectancy is placed at 52 years while other
health indicators reveal that only 1.9% of the nation’s
budget is expended on health. 68.0% of Nigerians are
stated to be living below a miserable $1.25 daily.
Additional worrisome data are that, while South
African and Egyptian universities make the list, no
single Nigerian university is ranked among the best
10 in Africa and top 400 in the world, as the “Times
Higher Education World University Rankings
2013-2014” show. “T.H.E. Ranking” is the only
global university performance table to judge world-
class universities across all of their core missions -
teaching, research, knowledge transfer and
international outlook.
Of course, social services today are exceedingly poor
and the decay in public infrastructure is glaring for
all to see. Or does one need any data to appreciate
the challenges that the problem of ethnicity,
diminishing national consciousness, religious
intolerance and unchecked activities of militias and
terrorist organizations pose to security at societal
and individual levels in Nigeria today? The gory
pictures from the recent massacre of over 30 students
in Yobe State by Boko Haram insurgents tell the tale
better.

As gloomy as they appear all the data given above do
not sufficiently portray the ‘real’ drama of today’s
youth. The critical issue is something denser;
something that goes beyond the unemployment
statistics and the tables confirming that the world
has changed and that the guarantees of a generation
ago are almost impossible in today’s times of
ferocious competition and obligatory flexibility.
At the heart of the matter is the question of ideology.

Today’s youth are immersed in epochal changes. We
were not born in historical circumstances in which
time-tested, traditional value systems are handed on
almost mechanically. We find ourselves before a
diversity that forces us to choose.
Sadly, the ideology that reads everything in terms of
“individual” success; where the value of a person is
measured by the possession of material wealth
(materialism), is what many young people, in recent
decades, have lived by (how much culture, movies,
and music bear this terrible news!).
Relationships, family, ideals have been pruned, cut
away. “Solipsism” - the belief in oneself as the only
reality - and, even worse, “Nihilism” (the belief in
nothingness), are gradually taking root in our youth.
The results? Various forms of impatience,
disappointment and, yes, fear. So much so that many
young people today have become violent against
themselves, others and the world.
While everything in a person tends to search for
something that satisfies fully his desire for beauty,
truth, and justice, what we meet and what is
proposed publicly and privately seems marked by
condemnation, precariousness, uncertainty, and
doubtfulness

The real drama, therefore, lies in truly finding
something that satisfies one’s life. And life as it is,
with its limitations and its precipices, not life as a
soap opera. This is the story, splendid and terrible,
that is on the stage in the Nigerian theater, and
pertains to all.

Traitor fathers
But where has the father, in his inexcusable absence,
gone? Italian author and playwright, Giovanni
Testori, wrote about those “traitor fathers” who had
coined a medal with no flip side, “the medal of
easiness, that did not envision its flip side: difficulty.”
They then passed it on to their children, betraying the
very ones they had generated.
Indeed, the Nigerian society today is full of such
“traitor fathers” who have failed to transmit to the
young the values of hard work, dignity in labour,
selflessness, social responsibility, accountability,
fairness and respect for others, reminding us that
fatherhood is not a “natural” given but is cultural
and educative.

The dearth of “adults” who are a presence bearing a
true identity, a positive hope, a constructive certainty
or meaning for their lives leaves many young people
in an immense solitude, which they fill with the easy
and sometimes terrible “games” that are readily
available.

Thanks to these traitor fathers who have
institutionalized corruption in every facet of our
public life through years of bad leadership (with a
score of 25 out of a possible 100 points, and ranked
144 out of 177 countries measured, Nigeria emerged
the 33rd most corrupt country in the world in the
Transparency International Corruption Perception
Index 2013), our youth have imbibed a lifestyle of
greed and a “get-rich-quick-at-all-cost” mentality.

But how can the youth see things any different in a
society where corruption is the norm and thieving
politicians and fraudulent businessmen are celebrated
as heroes? Where a poor, hungry man who steals
another’s ‘cube of sugar’ is imprisoned while a public
official who embezzles ‘billions of dollars’ of our
common wealth is allowed to go scot-free, or even
granted Presidential pardon?
The Need for Re-orientation
At individual and national levels, there is a
paramount need for reorientation; a changed set of
attitudes and beliefs. There is need for an education
(The fundamental idea in the education of the young
is that it is through the younger generations that
society successively rebuilds itself), and parents and
religious leaders have a role to play here, as much as
educational institutions do.

Let’s be clear: the concept of education I am referring
to is not “mere acquisition of academic
qualifications” (as, unfortunately, obtains in most
institutions of learning today). No! I mean education
as Luigi Giussani, Italian educator and founder of
International Communion & Liberation Movement,
describes it in his book “The Risk of Education” - “an
introduction to total reality.”
To educate means to introduce a person to reality by
clarifying and developing his primary or original view.

True education, therefore, has the inestimable value
of leading a person to the certainty that things, in
fact, do have a meaning, and “tradition” is an
important component of the educational process.

Unless young people are taught about the past
(tradition) from within a life experience that highlights
a correspondence with the heart’s deepest needs; in
other words, from the context of a life that speaks for
itself (a true father figure - who could be a parent,
teacher, or any responsible role model), they will grow
up either unbalanced or skeptical. If they have
nothing to guide them in choosing one theory (a
working hypothesis) over another, they will invent
skewed ones.

The youth must take this past and these reasons,
look at them critically, compare them with the
fundamental desires of their heart, and say, “this is
true”, or “this is not true”. As they grow older,
following this educational method, their passion for
life acquires an intensity and brilliance that even the
educator could not have fathomed, and discloses to
them the dignity of their personality and the affinity
with the divine that gives it its substance.
Of course, this “recollected awareness of the ultimate
sense of life’s mysteries” must become a spiritual
exercise, an ascetic path, and thus a suitable
perspective from which to live out a goal worthy of
their lives.”

Séx Matters: Kiss, Kissing and Kisses

Healthy séx may need a lot of efforts but there are a
few things that can be very effortless as well as good
for couples’ séx life. Kissing is one of those
wonderful things that have several benefits. It
releases endorphins which make one feel happy. A
kiss can be the most effective way to express your
love for your spouse.

When you kiss someone, you make them feel loved;
you tell them how much you love them. Kissing can
be a handy pain killer; it releases adrenaline which
can reduce the feeling of pain. A kiss can help take
away one’s mind from pain and experience
something good. A kiss at the right time can boost
relationship or even take it to a new level. Never miss
a chance to let your spouse feel special and know
how much you love him/her with a kiss.
When we kiss, both men and women produce the
hormone oxytocin that causes us to bond. A kiss a
day boosts immunity against viruses. Kissing works
wonders...
It helps get couples closer. A good kiss is a stress
buster. Cortisol, the stress hormone, is not only
dangerous to our immune system, it also decreases
endocrine hormone in the system and brain but sex
therapists have observed that kissing can lower the
cortisol levels. So kissing your spouse often helps
you fight stress. Nothing can be a better option for
foreplay and intimate moments than kissing. Kissing
ensures that both partners are on the right track to
some wonderful private moments. Lip locking,
another word for kissing, is one gesture couples
overlook and pay less attention to simply because
they do not know its benefits. Did you know that we
have different kinds of kiss?
Have you heard about butterfly kind of kiss? This is
not only delicate but cute. To do this, make sure your
faces are less than a breath away. Then open and
close your eyelids against your spouse’s cheek and
you would feel your heart fluttering with joy. Then we
have the cheek kiss which is one of the best. This
was actually the type of kiss you shared with your
spouse while you were still dating or in courtship.
With this type of kiss, your heart skips when your
crush comes over and bends to plant a kiss on your
cheek.

You would recall that as you kissed your girlfriend
then, you were at the same time putting your hands
around her shoulder [ a sign of possession] and
softly touching her cheeks with your lips over and
over again.

Another type of kiss which couples enjoyed while still
dating but have now almost neglected is the Eskimo
type of kiss.

The kiss is an expression of subtle
intimacy. It involves two people standing so close to
each other. Nothing works more romantically than
altering the tune of breathing by rubbing each other’s
nose. This is most recommended for couples, but
unfortunately bad breath most times makes this very
difficult.
The eye kiss is another type that many couples are
missing especially when they are not used to body
contact or open display of affection. With this type of
kiss, such challenge can be easily worked upon. This
is not the eyeball kiss that will put you or your
spouse at risk of infections, but one that is many
times tender and soulful. Hold your spouse’s head
with your hands. Slowly move their head in the
direction that you want to kiss and when your lips
have reached the eyes, plant a kiss.
I personally think that couples have fewer secrets to
hide when they look into each other’s eyeball
regularly. If you are a spouse that seldom have time
because of busy schedule, then what you need is the
eyelid kiss. With eyelid kiss, you will not need to feel
guilty anymore. All you need do is just plant one on
the eyelid. This is a very intimate kiss that your
partner would probably never come to know of unless
they are awake.

How about the earlobe kiss? All you need do is gently
plant kisses on the cheeks of your partner and move
towards his or her earlobe, then gently sip and suck
on the earlobes.

The finger kiss, you may already have done this with
your partner without really knowing that it is a type of
kiss in itself. The finger kiss involves gently rubbing
the partner’s fingers and sucking on them. This can
be surprisingly seductive and deeply passionate. This
is actually recommended for couples of all ages. A
good kiss is that subtle expression of intimacy.

A good kiss dropped on the cheeks of one’s spouse
is like refreshing morning dew but it takes two to
experience a good kiss.
